Memories For This Unit

Chain of Command
USS Kitty Hawk (AKV-1) was a cargo ship and aircraft transport that served during World War II. USS Kitty Hawk (APV-1/AKV-1), formerly SS Seatrain New York, was built in 1932 by Sun Shipbuilding & Drydock Corporation of Chester, Pennsylvania for Seatrain Lines, Inc.

Other Memories
Woodrow Allen survived five major battles at sea in the Pacific including the sinking of the aircraft carrier USS Hornet in the South Pacific where he was decorated for bravery. Woodrow was killed almost a year later in an explosion aboard another ship near New Georgia Island in the Pacific on 4 Sept. 1943.
