Other Memories At sea on three different carriers: on the USS Constellation CVA64 for 6 months, USS Ranger CVA61 for 8 months, USS Enterprise CVAN65 for 10 months while assigned to VA196 for 3 1/2 years. Visited numerous times the Phillipines, Singapore, Hong Kong, Sesabo, and Yokosuka, Japan. Numerous line period up to 60 days. For me it was an adventure, excitement, a learning experience, even with the racist comments I had to endure, and sad of the outcome of War. Death. I believe that it molded me for a career in the Navy for the span of 26 years. The A6 Intruder was new to the fleet, other base aircraft the A3, the P2 were being relocated soon after. I transferred after my 3 year tour with VA196 and continued my Navy career and returned to Whidbey Is in 1990 assigned to AIMD then VAQ140. I retired in 1994 the A6s were being retired, P3s were being assigned to Whidbey eventually P8s to be. In with the new, out with old, and revolves back to in with the new.
