Light Photographic Squadron Sixty-Three supplied a detachment for every attack carrier in the Pacific
The squadron was originally formed during the Korean Conflict as VJ-61. Since that time its designation has undergone several changes including VC-61, VFPO 61, VCP-63 and finally VFP-63. Its array of aircraft go back to the ;F4U-5P "Corsair" and through the AJ-2P "Savage", F2H-2P "Banshee", F9F-2P and -5P "Panther," F9F-6P and -SP "Cougar," A3D-2P "Skywarrior"
and on up to the present 1000 + MPH F8U-1P.
Through its detachments the parent squadron at NAS Miramar has reached far flung places throughout the world;
