Other Memories PCs (patrol crafts) were built during WWII for primarily coastal patrol freeing up destroyers and destroyer escorts for convoy duty. They carried 1 3inch 50 breech loaded gun forward in open mount, a 40 mm. on the fantail and two sets of 20mm. just aft the bridge. They had depth charge racks and a system called mousetraps on the bow that launched an anti-sub charge forward. They actually became a very used vessel, including guide on duty in amphib landings. There were also wooden hull PCSs made very much like a minesweeper. I do not believe any remained in commission after 1955-56. They were powere by two GE diesels.
