Memories For This Unit

Best Friends
Didn't have much time to get to know anyone since my tour only lasted about 5 mos.

Best Moment
Liberty in Hawaii where I had served for 4 yrs prior to reporting to the squadron. I was able to "comshaw" a lot of furniture for the Connie from the FICPAC that had been moved from Ford Island to Makalapa crater.
   

Worst Moment
The CO of my squadron was an A-7 corsair pilot who lost his life during training exercise off the coast of the Phillippines. It was presumed that his plane blew up. He had survived being shot down in Vietnam. He was rescued from the Mekong delta. We also had 2 young sailors sucked into A-7 intakes and I was involved in both JAG investigations.

Other Memories
VA-147 Embarked onboard USS CONSTELLATION
CVA-64 one month after I reported. I was selected for the ADCOP program and was transferred to Olympic College, Bremerton, WA. I was only with the Squadron for about 5 months.
