CDR Kennedy was relieved of Command after the 2nd patrol of the USS Wahoo based upon testimony of "Mush" Morton and Dick O'Kane. They both testified that the Commanding Officer had not been aggressive enough during the patrols.
He was then sent to the surface fleet and Commanded the USS Guest where he distinguished himself.
