Other Memories Entered Officer Candidate School in Oct. 1960 and was commissioned Ensign (1105) in March 1961. I was actually an Airman Apprentice while in OCS, having completed accelerated training from AR to AN at Los Alamitos NAS. I passed the test for AN, but did not accumulate sufficient drill time to be promoted. Was ordered to USS Polk County (LST-1084), homeported in San Diego, California
