ADMIRAL DESIGNATE: Captain Faucett has been on active duty with the U.S. Navy since January 1943, when he completed his internship at the Naval Hospital, Great Lakes, Illinois. He received his M.D. from the Indiana University School of Medicine, Indianapolis, Indiana in 1942 after previously earning his B.S. degree from Indiana University, and the B.A. degree from Earlham College, Richmond, Ind. Captain Faucett served as Senior Medical Officer of the V-12 Unit of the University of Oklahoma at Norman, Oklahoma, and as Assistant Medical Officer, Naval Trainng Center, Farragut, Idaho. After completion of Field Medical School, Camp Pendleton, he was assigned to the Second Marine Division and participated in the Marianas and Okinawan Campaigns. Captain Faucett completed residency training in internal medicine at the Naval Hospital, San Diego, California and the University of Pennsylvania's Post Graduate School of Medicine at Philadelphia. He was subsequently assigned to the Internal Medicine Service at the Naval Hospital at San Diego, thence to the USS NEREUS (AS-17) as Senior Medical officer and later to Submarine Squadron FIVE. After tours of duty at the Deep Sea Diving School, Submarine School, New London, and the Medical Research Laboratory where he participated in "Operation Hideout," as the Commanding Officer of the Volunteer Group, he completed assignments with Submarine Squadron FIVE and at the Naval Hospital, San Diego where he was Director of the Residency Training Program in Internal Medicine. Then followed tours of duty as Chief of Medicine and Director of the Intern Training Program at the Naval Hospital, Yokosuka, Japan. He has served at St. Albans since October 1965, first as Executive Officer and Chief of Outpatient Services, then as CO. Captain Faucett is a member of the American College of Physicians, the Military Surgeons of America, the American Medical Association, and the Indiana State Medical Society. He is married to the former Elizabeth Carpenter and they currently make their home at the Commanding Officer's Residence at St. Albans Naval Hospital. Captain Faucett has often appeared in prior issue of this newspaper congratulating members of his command on their promotions. It is now our pleasure to congratulate Captain Faucett on his own selection for promotion to flag rank.
