Curlee's son, then Major (promotable) Stephen Curlee, USAR, (TWS) was serving as a Deputy Inspector General for the 125th Army Reserve Command in Nashville, TN. While visiting him, the 125th conducted a 50th anniversary D-Day memorial service and three D-Day participants were honored. Although Curlee was still stateside in USNR Midshipmen's School on June 6, 1944, he was invited to participate. He considered it an honor and was glad to be part of the remembrance ceremony.
