Due to the rapid growth of the USNR Midshipmen's School, by MAR43, a great deal of the activity and classwork was relocated from USS Prairie State to Columbia University. Since Curlee was in engineering, he still spent most of his time on the Prairie State. This photo shows midshipmen playing baseball in the area that is now part of the beautiful College Walk on the Morningside Campus. Low Memorial Library is shown to the right and Earl Hall is the domed building in the center rear with the tower of Riverside Church behind, so the batter is facing almost north-northwest.
