LT William B. MacCracken (M.C.) of the USS Nautilus (SS-168) was attached to "Carlson's Raiders", the Second Marine Raider Battalion. He received the Navy Cross while participating in raids including the Makin Raid and Guadalcanal at Aola Bay.
