A rare picture of Paul Guttman actually wearing a sailor suit! As a motion picture combat cameraman in the Pacific, Paul saw combat with just about every branch of the service, including the Seabees, Navy Aviation, the Army Air Force, The Marines, the Army Infantry, surface vessels, and even a patrol on a submarine. He enlisted as a Seabee and spent over a year in a construction battalion before being re-assigned on "temporary detached duty" as a combat cameraman. He spent the remainder of the war photographing combat before being wounded for the last time on Okinawa. He was invalided home from an Army Field Hospital and discharged without ever having rejoined his old Seabee Battalion.
