Paul Guttman on a launch after returning from a mission with Navy Rescue Squadron VH-3. The unit opeated Martin PBM-3 Mariner flying boats out of Kerama Rhetto. Their function was to air-sea rescue support off the Japanese coast for both the carrier-based Navy Aviators and Army B-29 bomber crews of the 20th Air Force.
