Some action reports of the USS Fitch
20 of 100
from  1941-1942, BM-0161, USS Fitch (DD-462)  album
USS Fitch (DD-462) Destroyer USS Fitch (DD-462) 4 x 5-inch guns Note: USS Fitch entry for 0647, and other entries, refer to Target #3, which is the Saint-Marcouf / Crisbecq battery that scored direct hits amidships on USS Corry. Pre-D-Day intelligence reports for Target #3 were six 155mm guns, but those guns were moved and three 210-mm guns were installed at Target #3. At 0647 the battery was out of range for USS Fitch because the Fitch had moved to a rear area temporarily while heavy aerial bombardment was occurring. Later, after 0722, when USS Fitch moved in closer to rescue USS Corry survivors, Fitch took Saint-Marcouf under continued fire for quite a while as detailed in 0737 entry.
