Something you still can not do in Vietnam... FLY THE RVN FLAG. - today, 30 April 2016.
My Republic of Vietnam and RVNN (Navy) flags, along with my '70/'71 battle streamers,
which are: 1970, Vietnam War/Sanctuary Counteroffensive Campaign, and 1970-1971,
Vietnam War/Vietnamese Counteroffensive Phase VII Campaign. The dark one is an RVN
Civil Actions streamer 1970-1971. I was part of an advisory unit which was involved with
several community projects and the training of civilians in trades at the Saigon shipyard.
-- All of those years ago, I was about to graduate from a two year technical college, when
the unthinkable happened... Saigon Fell. If I thought I'd put Viet-Nam behind me... I
was in for a reawakening, one I never got over. It was 30 April 1975, one of the saddest
and angriest days of my life. For those who tell me to "get over it" I have but one thing
to say... "You'd better have been there, or shut your mouth".
