MY BIG ADVENTURE, U.S.N. 1969 to 1973. My Active Duty Years. -- After Boot Camp I was sent to Guided Missiles School in Dam Neck, Virginia. I failed the exam in my 17th week and was dropped from the program. From there I attended S.E.R.E School (Survival Evasion Resistance Escape) and then spent a year with U.S. Naval Advisory Group Vietnam. Next I attended Interior Communications Electrician School and Pre-Commissioning/Damage Control Training before reporting to my last duty assignment, the U.S.S. Harlan County (LST-1196). I spent a total of 4 years active, and later on I joined the Naval Reserve.
