I was in a Non-Crew Special Mission flight status while assigned to Armed Forces Institute of Pathology. Had to get 4 hours of flight time a month. I flew with Army UH-1H VIP squadrens at Ft. Mead. Sometimes I was designated as crew chief...even though I had no training for that job. We flew Military VIP's to the Pentagon and bases near D.C., Best part of missions were we were allowed to fly down Potomac River near all the Monuments in the Mall area like the Washington Monument. No other aircraft were allowed to fly this route as D.C. is restricted airspace.
When landing at the Pentagon we landed at the helo pad next to the portion of the Pentagon that was destroyed years later on 9/11.
