This was a rare pleasure! I had a chance to help arrange a reunion for Bob Feller with a local WW2 era USS ALABAMA (BB-60)shipmate. I had a very pro veteran Buffalo News columnist Ed Curran, write a blurb asking for any of Bobs local ALABAMA shipmates to contact me. Several did, but only Mr Edward Shanahan of East Aurora NY was able to attend the game. Bob was in town to sign autographs and pitch in a "celebrity" home run hitting contest prior to a Buffalo Bisons game. The Bisons managament asked if Id like to bat? Why of course I did
