THE STINKER MUFFIN.
When working with an IT department many years ago, I was puzzled by the "in crowd" using the term �??stinker muffin�?? as a derogatory term. It was usually applied to an unpopular co-worker who seemed full of himself and a bit pompous. I finally asked why this was and was told the following story.
One of our co-workers knew American Sign Language and would occasionally use it behind people�??s backs. It tickled him to have one of his friends ask him what he had signed.
In the past, he had made a sign behind the unpopular colleague and Amy, who used to hang out in IT with the �??cool guys�?? asked him what the sign meant. He replied �??sphincter muscle,�?? meaning this was the sign for an asshole. She misheard him and said, �??stinker muffin�??? That was enough. After hysterical laughter and explanations, �??stinker muffin�?? became the standard insult for anyone they disliked.
