Met a great new friend, Ed Cuaron among others. Discovered travelling by travel trailer. Wife, two year old daughter, infant son (born at Travis AFB hospital June 5, 1971) and black lab dog were with me for the sixteen weeks of training. Returned to Norfolk, VA by travel trailer, northern route via a five day, no charge, visit to Yellowstone National Park, at a lodging cost of $14.95 for the entire trip back.

Other Memories
During the last two weeks of training wound up with an infection in my right ankle which landed me in the hospital. Missed my company's graduation ceremony. :( Upon discharge from the hospital was returned to recruit training to complete the last two weeks. However, was offered the opportunity to take the final test and if passed I could leave for my next duty station, USNTC Bainbridge Maryland RM "A" School. Took the test, passed and was at home, on two weeks leave on July 4, 1962 surprising all my family and friends.
Being transferred off although it was a positive move for my career.
