Plank owner, Med. deployed on the Cora Sea, we made two runs on Libia where we showed Omar Kadafi who was the more powerful military. The news reported the Cora Sea as "... and another Carrier." Prior to my tour rotation I was advanced to Senior Chief. During this tour I was the Av/Arm Division Chief, Flight Deck Coordinator, Maintenance Control Chief, and then the Quality Assurance Division Chief.

Part of being the High-flight time, High-depoloyed person of the squardron for the three consecutive years, I also was the IFT later know as the AES for Crew 23. We made an actual around the world deployment. During that deployment we augmented our sister squardron VQ-1.

On our historical around the world deployment, we flew our first mission with VQ-1, their aircraft, half their crew and half VQ-2 crew. The first leg of this mission was uneventful. The following morning we were to fly out of an area in NE Africa. Upon take-off we had a fire in #2 engine, we could not dump fuel and we were too heavy to land. Shortly later #3 engin fire warning alarm sounded the pilots corrected that problem and upon touch-down (landing) #1 engine had a No-Bata warning. We came to a safe stop a total of 12-minutes after take-off.

Commissioned and Decommissioned (Plank Owner) of the original VAQ-133 when we flew KA-3B's and EKA-3B's. Commander Poore was our CO, promoted to ATR-3 while on a West-Pac aboard the "Connie". This promotion enabled me to go right to the shop as a flightdeck troubleshooter and avoid the Line Shack. The second West-Pac (Kittyhawk), I was TAD to Cubi Point AIMD where I worked "I-level" on ECM and ESM equipment.
