Worst Moment
I had the experience of establishing the Ships Office from the ground up so to speak with only one YN striker. Never do I want to go through that experience again. In addition to establishing the Ships Office we had to do all the personnel work until a PN2 reported on board about a month after I did.

Earned when USS MONTICELLO (LSD-35) went into Vietnam Waters. Received 2nd, 3d, and 4th awards for subsequent trips on USS TUSCALOOSA (LST-1187).

Receiving Kudo's from COMPHIBRON for getting the Ship's Office up to passing Admin Inspection after failing the inspection just prior to going in the shipyard.

Reported aboard in September 1969 at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, right after the last sea trial form overhaul. Transferred in May 1970 in middle of WESTPAC Cruise to New Construction LST in San Diego, CA.

Was there for 4 months waiting for end of enlistment which was up in May 1963. Discharged in April 1963. No job opportunities available, so Re-enlisted in August 1963.

Unit Headquarters were at Ford Island, HI. Deployed to Christmas Island from February 1962 to May 1962, then to Johnston Island from June 1962 to July 1962. Returned to Ford Island August 1962.
