I was raised by my Maternal Grandmother ,raised rather gently so the DI screaming at me and others was very much a time I remember.
Other Memories
Midnight cruises in the swamps of Virginia. I thought the food was great,, A memory of a Galley officer making me eat all that I had taken on my tray before I could leave the mess hall, it all looked good.
Best Friends Boot training was at , United States Training and Distribution Center, Camp Peary ,Williamsburg, Virginia.

â??I remember ; after alighting from the bus that brought us from the train- the DI screaming at us to line up and some other choice words - this county boy thought I had died and gone to hell.
â??At least two midnight cruises, one in a swamp, these were punishment for some unknown reason.
â??The fear of jumping into a swimming pool from a 12/15ft tower into the water and unable to swim.

Although duty on Saipan,M.I. was easy in1946/47( no one shooting at us) I think perhaps leaving Saipan for home was best moment.
No really bad moments .We did have too stay, a few hours, in one of the famous caves on Saipan during a hurricane.
