EVERYTIME a unit member returned safely from a mission or deployment. The many times I was invited to have "lunch across the street" - that was always a special treat.

Assigning staff to go on unscheduled missions or deployments, knowing it added unexpected stress to family situations.

The "Bara . Bash" farewell party we threw for the men and their familkies at our home in Bowie to show our appreciation and respect for the unit as we perpared for our next duty station.
