Best Friends
Larry Elijah (Enlisted with me on the Buddy Plan) He was about to be shipped him off to the marines until I convinced him that he needed to see the world in a different light.
Best Moment
Enjoying the gatherings in the evening after training. We got to read our letters and discuss our adolescent years.
Worst Moment
When our company's recruit days (Week 3 Day 1)stood still and we had to be motivated by two seperate groups of CPO's named the Troubleshooters and Salt and Pepper. They provided us some intense training that would be illegal today. They also transferred the troublemakers back to P-1 day! Once we were conditioned properly our Boot Camp experience officially continued.

Other Memories
Gaining 20 pounds during bootcamp. That is why I appreciated Marching Parties. It allowed me to exercise appropriately because during this era sailors in San Diego did not do much physical exercise on a daily basis. I remember a few of the recruits crying like babies. Classroom activities was the priority.
