Republic of Viet-Nam Navy (RVNN), "Navy Service Medal" authorized May 1964 was a medal of the South Vietnamese Navy and came in four grades and three different designs. Shown here is the most common, theater made medal in the honorary grade. GRADE 1: 15 years service device. This level was never issued. GRADE 2: 10 years service w/device. Again, this level was never issued. GRADE 3: 5 years service with device, for service in the Vietnamese Navy. GRADE 4: Honorary Level, issued to members of foreign navies who supported the RVNN. This is the level awarded to American Naval personnel who served in country by the South Vietnamese Congress in 1974. There is no device worn at this grade/level.
