The signature of R. S. Salzer hangs in a frame on the wall of my house. It's been there for more than half of my life. Under his signature it says: Rear Admiral, U.S. Navy; Commander U.S. Naval Forces Vietnam. Above that is the citation from my Navy Achievement Medal with it's combat 'V'.
I never met the Admiral. However, I did spend a few nights on his rooftop, in a gun tower, at NAVFORV (Naval Forces Headquarters Saigon,Vietnam). And to honor his memory, I was privilaged to put together his Rememberance Profile. It was my way of saying "Thank You for Your Service, Sir".
