I retired from the Navy Reserve and Lockheed Martin both in October of 2004. I went back to Lockheed Martin as a Contract Engineer in July of 2006. I "retired" again Dec 31, 2009 after 3 1/2 years back at Lockheed Martin.

I was most honored to have attended the "pinning" ceremony and COC of RDML Chris "Tree" Sadler at NAS North Island, CA on Aug 19, 2010. He relieved RADM Patrick McGrath as CNAFR. 3 of us (retirees from NR CFWP 0170), AOCS (Ret) Michael Massey, ADCS (Ret) Molly Gilbert, and myself), were honored to have received an invitation and we were most highly honored to attend! I wore Summer Whites for the first time in 6 years to honor RDML Sadler on his promotion and new tour as CNAFR.
On Nov 12, 2011, I attended SKC Clarence Briggs' commissioning ceremony to CWO2 at the NOSC, NAS Ft. Worth JRB. I was MOST pleasantly surprised that RDML "Tree" Sadler, CNAFR, was in attendance! A very memorable commissioning for CWO2 Briggs and a great time visiting with the RDML!
In August 2012, RDML Sadler wrapped up his tour as CNAFR in San Diego and was most recently Vice Commander, US Sixth Fleet in Naples, Italy.
He was promoted to RADM in August, 2013 at the Pentagon, Washington D.C. I was most disappointed that I was unable to attend his promotion ceremony.
After a STELLAR Navy career, RADM Sadler retired in September 2016, at the Navy Yard in Washington DC.
CDR (Ret) Butch Stephens and I hopped a VR-59 C-40A out of NAS JRB Ft. Worth up to NAS Oceana and on down to NAS Key West on Tuesday Nov 30, 2011. We had great accommodations at NAS Key West MWR Vacation Rentals in one of their many 2 br. trailers. It was nice and very comfortable. Wednesday we took the Yankee Freedom out to Ft. Jefferson in the Dry Tortugas. Great tour, loaded with history! Watched the sunset from old Ft. Zachary Taylor and a few more times from the Navy's Truman Annex. Originally we were going to catch a VR-46 C-9 hop back to NAS Ft. Worth the following Friday but it never materialized. They had a C-9 coming Sunday from VR-46 at NAS FTW to return about 40 Navy JROTC young people to Tri-Cities Regional in TN, but the A/C was down and had to come the next day, so Monday we hopped on the VR-46 C-9B, flew up to TN and dropped of the JROTC folks and dead-headed back to NAS Ft. Worth with the crew. When we left Key West it was 80 degrees and sunny. When we arrived at NAS FTW, it was 32 degrees, misting, and wind out of the north about 30! Talk about a shocking climate change, we sure had one there! I was ready to go back to Key West!
