Details Behind Award
Professional achievement while serving as a member of the Strategic Missile division in USS Maine (SSBN 741)(Gold) from June 1994 to March 1999. Petty Officer Tebeau consistently performed his demanding duties in an exemplary and highly professional manner. Demonstrating superb leadership, knowledge and resourcefulness, he significantly contributed to the highly successful completion of Maine's initial sea trials, commissioning, and a Trident II strategic missile onload. His exceptional performance and technical knowledge directly contributed to the completion of Demonstration and Shakedown Operations that culminated in the flawless launch of one D-5 Test Instrumentation missile. As the weapons department yeoman, hie expert administrative and managerial ability were instrumental in the flawless maintenance of all publications and software required to operate the Strategic Weapons System. His efforts led to the successful completion of a Naval Technical Proficiency Inspection during which the ship received the highest grades earned by a Submarine Group Ten SSBN in the past seven years. Displaying excellent initiative, he set the standard for departmental qualifications by being the only Second Class Petty Officer to qualify and stand watch as Launcher Supervisor. Petty Officer Tebeau's outstanding performance and loyal devotion to duty reflected great credit upon himself and were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
