Last Known Activity
LT Gothie was serving at Cavite, Philippines when the base was attacked. He was taken as a POW following the Japanese invasion and the fall of Corregidor. He was captured at the fall of the Philippines and held in various prison camps. He was listed as missing in action after the Japanese "Hell Ship" he was aboard, Arisan Maru, was sunk by an American submarine on October 24, 1944 and was later declared dead.
He was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star for "meritorious service as officer in charge of Torpedo Repair at Cavite Navy Yard, Philippines."
