 Additional Information
Last Known Activity

In spite of valiant efforts of her gunners, on 19 March 1945, USS Wasp (CV-18) was hit with a 500-pound armor-piercing bomb. The bomb penetrated the flight deck and the armor-plated hangar deck, and exploded in the crew's galley. Many of her shipmates were having breakfast after being at general quarters all night. The blast disabled the number-four fire room. Around 102 crewmen were lost.

ENS Cabrials was among the men killed. His memorial marker in Corpus Christi states he was buried at sea. It is unknown whether he was killed and buried at sea by his shipmates or if he was one of the men who was listed as missing in action and later declared dead.
