Last Known Activity
The USS Robalo (SS-273) began her war patrol from Freemantle, Australia 22 June 1944. Based on Evidence of notes passed from a Prisoner of War camp, it was concluded the Robalo was sunk 26 July 1944. Four crewmen escaped and made their way to the shore, only to be captured by the Japanese. They were imprisoned, but never heard from again. Chief Motor Machinist's Mate Dickerson was listed as Missing in Action and later declared dead 16 January 1946.
