 Additional Information
Last Known Activity
was plank owner on uss Gambier Bay, CVE 73, survived sinking at battle off Samar, Leyte Gulf, Oct. 25, 1944. was ensign at time and a Fighter Direction Officer??? Would like to hear from anyone from Taffy 1,2,or 3. Also anyone familiar with the Casablanca class escort carriers. Would really like to know where his duty station would have been during "Battle Stations"! My dad did not like to talk about his experience during or after the sinking, things he chose not to dwell on. I know he was very proud to serve though, and he was not a big fan of Adm. Halsey.
