Other Comments:
Hitch was the only casualty while Bainbridge was deployed to Vietnam during the 1965-67 time period.  On a port call to Subic Bay, PI.  He along with other shipmates were on an excersion to Grande Island at the USN Rec  area. During this excersion the group were diving and Hitch failed to return. A search was initiated and his body was recovered.  It appears his death was due to accidential drowning as a result of a diving accident.  Memorial services were held on the ship prior to returning to sea and duty in Vietnam.
