USS Yorktown

During the Battle of the Coral Sea 4 - 8 May 1942,  Ltjg Johnson was one of the eight  VS-5 planes (SBD-3s) assigned to fly combat air patrol over the Yorktown to protect against enemy torpedo planes &  fighters (Zeroes) launched from the Zuikaku carrier. Johnson was one of the 4 pilots in the group to be shot down and lost as these enemy planes approached the Yorktown.
