  Remembering A Good Division Officer
I remember Ens/LTJG Collins from the USS Radford (DD-446)in 1965-1966 back when I was a QM3 and QM2. He was our OC Division Officer. I remember when a couple of us "missed movement" from Bravo Piers to the tender., he greeted us with "Welcome aboard, boys, meet your legal officer". He was always fair. The skipper's we had (CAPT Wettlaufer and CDR Prange) thought alot of him, and he was always asked to conn the ship or take over OOD's duties. We knew he had a bright future. He wasn't a great man of stature (physically), but we jokingly called him "Ripper Collins", after a popular local Hawaiin wrestler.
