Last Known Activity
During Operation Beacon Gate/Cochise, John diligently carried out his duties by medical treating those of his company in need. On 17 August 1967, Company C engaged a heavily fortified enemy position. John was killed instantly by an automatic weapon as he went to the assistance of those who already had fallen under the heavy volume of fire in the assault.
