Last Known Activity

This profile is of my great uncle George W. Donner who served on the USS Strong, that went down in Kula Gulf. He will be missed.

Although the details aren't available, it is known that S1c Donner was wounded when the USS Strong (DD-467) was sunk on 5 July 1943. He was taken to a medical facility on Guadalcanal where he died of his wounds on 6 July 1943. He was buried there. In February 1948, his remians were returned to the United States for burial by his family.
