Eric Casey, 21, was the son of Patricia Kirkpatrick. He had 3 sisters and 2 brothers. He attended North Surry High School and graduated in 1985. He was a lieutenant colonel and cadet commander in the NSHS ROTC Chapter. He enlisted in the Navy in July 1985. He died in an explosion in gun turret #2 on the USS Iowa, during training maneuvers, on April 19, 1989.
