We moved to Washington State after retiring from the Navy. We live in the Tacoma area but I work in Centralia, which is alittle over a hour south of where we live. I have been doing this commute for over 11 years. I am probably on first name bases with most of the state troopers. I even asked to have a portion of the interstate named in my honor. Other than supporting the states budget, I currently work at the Centralia Post Office as a Customer Service Supervisor. I have come to dislike telephones. I did alot of traveling after retiring. I can proudly say, I have visited all 50 states. We have also took vacation trips to Mexico, Munich, and London. Now I just sit back and relax, watch some sports, read, surf the internet, and visit my doctor. I also love to collect. You name it, I collect it. I have my room that is off limits to everyone. Well, except my best friend Buddy (our big baby half German half Husky), and 100 percent spoiled. He is little over 14 years old. We have a race going to see who takes the longest to stand up. Nothing else exciting here in the Great NW. I am a big Irish fan and visit South Bend as often as I can. I have been fortunate enough to be able to attend some home games at ND. What a great experience I will never forget Not much into the great out doors. The closest I come to fish, is when I go to the commissary for fish sticks. We have done some camping trips to Canada and the coast. My back was very upset about that for almost a week.

I have been very fortunate to meet some interesting athletes and entertainers. I have meet Randy White, Mel Renfro, Warren Spahn. Bob Feller, Harmon Killebrew, Lou Holtz, Digger Phelps, Ross Browner, Viking Cheerleaders, Ram Cheerleaders, Falcon Cheerleaders, Bill Cheerleaders, a bunch of Irish players, Kris Kristopherson (one crazy, but good guy), Joe Diffie, Chris Zorich (heck of a guy), grand children of Knute Rockne, and many others. For the most part, they were all down to earth and easy to talk to. Randy White is just nuts. He would talk your ear off if you let him. I have listen to Lou Holtz speak three times. If you can not get motivated after listening to him, you never will. Even though Ross Browner was ill, he still sat and talked with me for about 15 minutes. I would never have had the opportunity for this experience, if I did not join the Navy. I have seen alot during and after my time in the Navy. I have many memories, good and bad. However, they are memories I would not trade for anything. I also want to mention some information not many people know about my family, including relatives. I have mentioned I am big into geneology. During my research I have found the following facts. First, my family over the years has been very supporting of the military. I did not mention U.S. as you will find out here shortly. I found that my family, more specific my eighth generation Grandfather was a Hessen Soldier who came to this country in 1777 to fight with the British. He was captured in late 1777 at the Battle of Trenton. He was sent to Lancaster, PA to work. Some how he met my Grandmother and decided he liked the Americans better then the British and switched allegence to the Colonials then married my grandmother and lived happier ever after. I also had two grandfathers (father and son) who both fought in the Civil War. What was confusing is the were both named Jacob. Jacob senior was severely wounded in VA and my other grandfather was captured and held as a POW. One thing I do not know, if he was sent to Andersonville. There is no record where he was held. My family continued to serve in the military for over the next 100 plus years. Just a little history I thought is interesting about my family. I was able to order a copy of my grandfathers pension documentation. It is incredible the amount of paperwork required for 31 dollars a month. I am so proud of my family service to this country and the sacrifices and pain they went through. UPDATE. I am now officially retired from working. I kinda was forced to retire from the Post Office. Well the story is long but I will keep it short. It was December 20, 2013 and I was on my way on a 1 hour drive to work. The only problem I never made it. I do not remember anyting what happened, but I was told I thought I was back in aircrew and my car was an airplane. I tried to make an emergency landing off the cliff of a mountain. Final score mountain one and Scott zero. I spent the next six months in and out of the office for treatment and therapy. The doctors took all my fun away so I retired. I am now sitting around home guarding my computer ensuring it does not run off. Finish up I lost one of my dogs who we had for 14 years due to tumor. We also had one dog decide to break out of prison and never returned. I have had more fun in the middle of the Indian Ocean. My differentcollections are finally getting some attention. That be it. I pity any one who read all of this. I can honestly say I do miss the Navy, especially my friends and people I worked with. Very big difference.
