Randy, I was your Branch Officer during our deployment to Tan Son Nhut airbase during 1966. The accident happened while I was on a det up north in Okinawa and by the time I got back to Saigon, everything had been taken care of. The mortar attack came very unexpectedly to our area at Tan Son Nhut. My understanding was that you dove under a bridge to protect yourself from the mortar rounds, but one found the bridge that you had found and did you deadly harm. I never did contact your wife or children. The skipper said that it was all taken care of when I returned, but I've always wanted to tell them how much I enjoyed your work and dedication to the job you were assigned there in Viet Nam. And how very sorry I was that you were selected to be our angel in that ugly conflict. I know that you were an exemplary husband and father and that your presence was sorely missed by your family. The ultimate sacrifice you made for all of us will be remembered forever. May the Lord bless you and keep you in his presence.
