Petty Officer Second Class Robert Edward Schaefer was Killed in Action on January 1, 1951, while assigned to Patrol Squadron 46, during the Korean War.  No NOK have ever been located.  Anyone with information, please contact.
   
Comments/Citation
Aviation Machinist's Mate Second Class Schaefer was a crew member of a PBM-5 Mariner patrol bomber with Patrol Squadron 46 U.S. Navy. On January 11, 1951, his aircraft crashed at sea near Amani O'Shima, Japan and he drowned.
