FREEDOM by Father Denis Edward O'Brien, USMC
It is the soldier, not the reporter Who has given us the freedom of the press.
It is the soldier, not the poet, Who has given us Freedom of speech.
It is the soldier, not the campus organizer Who has given us the Freedom to demonstrate
It is the soldier, who serves beneath the Flag, Who salutes the Flag,
Whose coffin is draped by the Flag, Who allows the protestor to burn the Flag,
It is the soldier, not the politician, Who has given his blood, his body, his life, Who has given us these FREEDOMS!
A Lesson in Patriotism Remembrance posted by Terry Berrier I was an Air Force Brat and wore Lt. Teague's bracelet in Jr. High before I fully understood the meaning of his sacrifice. That bracelet, though, has left a lasting impression. I now teach high school choir. When we sing songs about our country, I use that bracelet as a symbol of the connection I had with a single American soldier, and try to convey his (and thousands of others) incredible display of patriotism.
POW/MIA bracelet Remembrance posted by Lori Holtzinger I wore Lt. James Teague's name on my POW/MIA bracelet while I was in Junior High School. I never knew what happened to him, but I am glad to finally have some information from the Virtual Wall. Hope to see the real wall in person soon.
