Other Comments:

From the Oregonian, 2 Sept. 1942:

Cadets Reach Station.

Two Portland naval aviation cadets, having completed elimination training, have arrived at the United States Naval Air Station, Corpus Christi, Tex., to start flight instruction that leads to wings and commissions, either in the naval or the marine corps reserves.

The latest Portland arrivals to Corpus Christi are Floyd E. Daniel and Thomas W. Watts, Jr.

From the Oregonian, 22 Jan. 1943:

Portlander Wins Wings, Others Soon to Qualify.

Graduation of a naval aviation cadet from Portland as an ensign and the progress of several other Oregon naval cadets who are on their way to earn the gold wings of navy fliers have been reported from several naval aviation stations.

At Corpus Christi, Tex., Floyd Edwin Daniel, son of Mrs. Jean B. Emmett, 4805 N. Vancouver Avenue, was commissioned an ensign upon completion of his flight training. He is a former student at Pacific College, Newberg.
