Ensign Broyles was the pilot of a F2H-2 Banshee fighter with Fighter Squadron 22 aboard the aircraft carrier USS LAKE CHAMPLAIN (CV-39). On July 26, 1953, after striking Hoeryong Air Field, North Korea, he failed to rendezvous with his flight. He was presumed dead on August 20, 1954.
